Senior Master Sergeant Vitaliy Piskun has been appointed as the Chief Sergeant of the 7th Rapid Response Air Assault Corps of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Previously, he served as the Chief Sergeant of the 25th Separate Airborne Sich Brigade of the Air Assault Forces.
Vitaliy Piskun has been serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine since 2009, possesses extensive combat experience, and has been awarded the Order “For Courage” III class.
The handover ceremony was attended by chief sergeants of brigades subordinated to the corps, the Chief Sergeant of the Air Assault Forces Command, and Colonel Yevhen Lasiichuk, commander of the 7th Rapid Response Air Assault Corps.
“A sergeant is the link between a soldier and a commander, a leader on the battlefield, a professional who implements new experience. The sergeant corps is the foundation of combat capability for the Air Assault Forces and the Armed Forces as a whole. A sergeant is the right hand of the commander, whether a platoon leader or a corps commander. We are all part of one system, and this system must only be improved,” emphasized Colonel Yevhen Lasiichuk.
The newly appointed Chief Sergeant highlighted that the main goal of the sergeant corps is to raise the professionalism of sergeants to the highest level.
“A sergeant is a leader and mentor for subordinates and a reliable support for the commander. Therefore, we have no choice but to be the best specialists in our field! For this, I will give my maximum effort and be available 24/7 to resolve any tasks and issues,” he said.
