Third Anniversary of the Liberation of Izium by the 25th Separate Airborne Brigade
Today, September 10, marks exactly three years since the liberation of Izium during the Kharkiv counteroffensive.
The 25th Separate Airborne Sich Brigade released a video featuring soldiers’ recollections of the battles for the city, alongside adjacent Defense Forces units.
Key elements of success in the Izium operation highlighted by the 25th Brigade soldiers:
- The offensive began at dawn.
- Artillery struck enemy positions, after which the column of vehicles advanced. Tanks led the way, clearing mines. The first tank detonated several mines, opening the path for armored vehicles carrying infantry.
- On the approaches to Izium, Ukrainian units carried out rapid clearing operations.
- The operation’s success relied on coordination. Each crew and unit knew its sector and carried out its mission. The enemy did not expect such a strike and retreated quickly.
Details of the Izium operation can be seen in the documentary video.
