Before his appointment as corps commander, Hero of Ukraine Yevhen Lasiichuk led the 25th Separate Airmobile Sich Brigade, seasoned in battles in Donetsk and Kharkiv regions. In February 2025, despite being outnumbered, the legendary “25th” halted enemy advances toward the Pokrovsk area.
Under Colonel Yevhen Lasiichuk, the 7th Air Assault Corps will unite the renowned air assault units of the southeastern region:
- 25th Separate Airmobile Sich Brigade
- 79th Separate Air Assault Tavria Brigade
- 81st Separate Airmobile Slobozhanska Brigade of the Air Assault Forces
- 77th Separate Airmobile Brigade of the Air Assault Forces of Ukraine
- 78th Separate Air Assault Regiment
“A paratrooper is a symbol of heroism, courage, and bravery. Today, the Air Assault Forces must operate according to the new conditions of a war that is becoming increasingly technological. The use of automated combat systems, IT solutions, and drones as independent combat units is part of the daily work of brigades on the front line.
My goal is to build a structure where advanced technologies help save the lives of our soldiers and neutralize enemy personnel on Ukrainian territory. High-quality operational planning, preparing personnel for technological combat, in-house workshops, and development centers for new solutions—all this must become the driving force behind the development of our formation,” emphasizes the commander of the 7th Air Assault Corps.
Colonel Yevhen Lasiichuk is a Knight of the Orders of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, II and III degrees. In 2024, he was awarded the title Hero of Ukraine with the Order of the Gold Star for personal courage and heroism in defending Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, remaining faithful to his military oath during the Russian-Ukrainian war.
